Women’s Quota Bill Row: Rajya Sabha Chairman Suspends 7 MPs

Ejaz Ali, Subhash Yadav, Sabir Ali, Nand Kishore Yadav, Kamal Akhtar, Amir Alam Khan and Veerpal Singh Yadav belonging to SP, RJD and LJP were suspended today by Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari today on grounds of unruly behaviour as they tried to disrupt the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha.

The members of Parliament had started shouting slogans within minutes of commencement of the session. The house has been adjourned till 2p.m today.

The house had assembled to discuss the Women’s Quota Bill which could not be discussed yesterday due to unruly MPs protesting against the bill and disrupting the proceedings of the house continuously. The Parliament was adjourned five times yesterday due to disruption of proceedings.                                                                                                                                           Early today Sharad Yadav, Lalu Prasad and Mulayam Singh Yadav had a meeting with the PM as they were the key protestors against the bill. The trio had a meeting with the PM even yesterday but it was inconclusive.
