Hyderabad, March 12: The Telangana Joint Action Committee has expelled the Telugu Desam, taking exception to the arrest of several TJAC activists before the tour of the Telugu Desam president, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, to Rajoli in Mahbubnagar district.
The committee, which met under the leadership of Prof Kodandaram, took strong objection to the TD activists attacking lawyers near Indira Park.
“We have decided to expel Telugu Desam from the committee,” Prof Kodandaram said after the meeting. The T-JAC opined that Mr Naidu was hand in glove with the Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, to suppress Telangana movement. The T-JAC felt Mr Rosaiah was responsible for the arrest of TJAC activists before Mr Naidu’s tour.
Following the expulsion, only the TRS and the BJP and some employee organisations are left with the TJAC. The TD leaders were having a running feud with the TJAC after party MLAs backed out from resignations. Sources said the TRS chief, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Prof Jayashanker and others unanimously sought the expulsion of the TD.
