Admission to BFSc. Nautical Science

The Central Institute of Fisheries Nautical and Engineering Training (CIFNET), Kochi, has invited applications for an entrance test to be held on June 6 at Kochi for admission to its Bachelor of Fisheries Science (BFSc.) Nautical Science course.

This a four-year course with integrated practicals and on-board training in fishing vessels. The course is affiliated to the Cochin University of Science and Technology and approved by the Directorate General of Shipping.

The entry qualification is a pass in Plus Two with at least 50 per cent marks in English and mathematics, and 50 per cent in aggregate in other science subjects.

Candidates belong to the Scheduled Caste/Tribe communities need only a pass in the Plus Two exams.

Applicants must be in the age-group of 17-20 as on October 1, 2010. The total number of seats is 22.

How to apply

Application forms and prospectus can be obtained from the Director, CIFNET, Fine Arts Avenue, Kochi-16, on payment of Rs.400 (Rs.200 for candidates belonging to the SC/ST communities) by demand draft payable at Ernakulam and drawn in favour of senior administrative officer, CIFNET. The demand draft should be sent along with a self-addressed stamped (Rs.15) envelope.

Last date for receipt of filled-in applications is May 22.

The course will commence on July 22.

On completion of the course with 50 per cent marks in aggregate, candidates are eligible to enter as nautical deck cadets without pre-sea training.

How to apply

For application forms and information bulletin, candidates must send a requisition letter along with a demand draft for Rs.100 drawn in favour of the controller of examinations, BHU, payable at Varanasi along with a self-addressed envelope to the entrance test cell, office of the controller of examinations, BHU, Varanasi so as to reach the addressee on or before February 26.

Candidates must write their name and the name the course they are applying for on the reverse side of the demand draft.

Last date for receipt of completed applications is March 10.

Admission to MBA

The University Business School of Punjab University has invited applications for admission to its two-year fulltime Master of business administration programme. Total seats: 66.

Graduates in any discipline with 50 per cent marks in aggregate or those who have qualified ICAI/ICWAI/ICSI or AMIE with 50 per cent can apply.

Those who are appearing for their final year qualifying exam are also eligible to apply. The selection is based on IIM-CAT score 2009.

Flying training course

The Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi, Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, has invited applications for a national level entrance test to be held on May 16 for admission to its flying training programme for commercial pilot license. The training course will commence in September.

The duration of the training is 15 months and the course fee Rs.24.60 lakh payable in four instalments. Total seats: 100.

Candidates who have passed their Plus Two exams with physics and mathematics and have scored 50 per cent marks in aggregate can apply. Candidates should have completed 17 years of age. The application fee is Rs.3,500.

Medical entrance

The Annamalai University, Annamalai Nagar, 608002, has invited applications for a common entrance test for admission to its self-financing MBBS, BDS, BPT, B.Sc. (nursing) and B.Pharm. courses. The entrance test will be held on May 10.

Candidates from other States are also eligible to appear for the entrance test.

To get application forms and other details by post, candidates should send a requisition letter along with a demand draft for Rs.300 drawn in favour of the registrar, Annamalai University, Annamalai Nagar-608002 payable at Chennai and a self-addressed stamped envelope.
