Guwahati: At least 11 persons were killed in Bodo militants attack in Assam. The carnage took place at a village in Assam’s Sonitpur district on Sunday evening.

According to the recent reports, militants belonging to National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) faction, which is opposed to talks with New Delhi, gunned down 11 people including two women.

Nine others are said to be injured in the incident. Superintendent of Police Surender Kumar told “NDFB insurgents attacked Balisang village in Biswanath Chariali police station and fired at the locals having a mixed population of Assamese, Nepalese and Adivasis.”

Official sources said the militants had attacked the villagers as they refused to pay the extortion demands.
